Atei Jungle Safari is an eco-tourism initiative developed by the Forest Department in the Atei Reserve Forest under the Ghatgaon Range of Keonjhar Forest Division, Odisha. It has been created to offer visitors a guided forest safari experience while promoting wildlife conservation, environmental awareness, and sustainable livelihood opportunities for local communities. The safari allows tourists to explore natural forest landscapes, observe wildlife such as elephants, deer, wild boar, and various bird species in their natural habitat, and learn about forest ecology through trained guides. Atei Jungle Safari focuses on responsible tourism by balancing visitor experience with the protection of biodiversity, community participation, and conservation-based development, making it an important eco-tourism destination in Keonjhar district.
Atei Jungle Safari has been opened on 2nd January, 2025 to the public at the Atei Reserve Forest under the Ghatgaon Range of Keonjhar Forest Division, marking a new milestone in eco-tourism development in the district. The safari was inaugurated by Keonjhar Member of Parliament Hon'ble Shri Anant Nayak in the presence of public representatives and Shri Dhanraj HD, IFS DFO, Keonjhar Forest Division and senior forest department officials. Developed by the Forest Department, the jungle safari aims to promote nature-based tourism while creating awareness about wildlife conservation.
The 1st Foundation Day of Atei Jungle Safari was proudly celebrated on 2nd January 2026 with plantation drives, awareness programmes, cultural activities and community participation.
