Children Learn the Importance of Forests and Wildlife at Atei Jungle Safari Awareness Program

An environmental awareness programme was recently organized at the jungle safari area under the Keonjhar Forest Division with the objective of educating children and youth about forests, wildlife conservation, and biodiversity protection. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of students, volunteers, and forest officials.

During the visit, children were introduced to the rich natural heritage of the forest ecosystem. Forest officials and trained guides explained the importance of forests in maintaining ecological balance, supporting wildlife habitats, and sustaining human life. The participants were also made aware of the harmful impacts of deforestation, forest fires, and illegal wildlife activities.

A special interaction session was conducted where students learned about different wildlife species found in the forest, their behaviour, food habits, and the role they play in nature. The jungle safari experience helped the children observe nature closely and develop a deeper emotional connection with forests and wildlife.

The programme aimed to instill environmental values among young minds and encourage them to become future protectors of nature. Forest personnel highlighted that awareness among children is crucial for long-term conservation efforts, as today’s children are tomorrow’s responsible citizens.

The participants expressed happiness and excitement after the visit and shared that the safari experience enhanced their understanding of nature far beyond classroom learning. Such educational exposure helps nurture respect for forests and motivates communities to actively participate in conservation initiatives.
